Canedy Scholar Program
To honor the legacy of Clarkson Hospital Administrator, James A. Canedy and cultivate new generations of physician leaders through education the Canedy Scholar Program was established. Mr. Canedy was a skilled manager of personnel, resources, ideas, and providing exemplary leadership to Clarkson Hospital for 36 years. Throughout his career, he placed strong emphasis on high quality patient care and believed in continuing education for health professionals.
Dr. James T. Canedy, son of James A. Canedy, established a scholarship program to equip physicians with the tools of healthcare leadership. The Canedy Scholar Program offers full tuition support for one Omaha physician annually to matriculate in the Executive MBA Program at the University of Colorado Denver. This is a 24-month program designed for working healthcare professionals to earn their masters via a live and distance learning model.
We are seeking physicians at any career stage who have a growth mindset, a demonstrated track record of leadership, a spirit of working across silos, and a long term vision to improve the Omaha community. Past scholars have included both physicians in private practice and academic physicians. The program requires an average of 10 hours of commitment per week and 1 week of travel to Denver every semester. Travel costs are covered by the scholarship.
